Detroit Coffee Week 2024
Detroit Coffee Week is a week-long celebration of specialty coffee. Dessert Oasis Coffee Roasters (DOCR) is partnering with Claudio Martinez from SoFlo Coffee Collective on this inaugural event.
Detroit Coffee Week will take place from July 22-27, 2024,, bringing together coffee enthusiasts, local businesses, and coffee professionals to learn together and celebrate coffee in the Detroit region.
The week will include:
SCA Classes: Claudio has been kind enough to offer foundational level barista classes completely free of charge. Students will only be responsible for their certification cost. There are only 16 slots available total - 8 on Monday & 8 on Tuesday.
Tech Classes with Black Rabbit: DOCR Ferndale will be open for learning with DoubleJ from Black Rabbit Service Co, traveling from Portland, OR. Whether folks have never seen the inside of a machine or are seasoned coffee’s techs, everyone will have an opportunity to learn and play.
Planet Oat Latte Art Class: Learn from the best - a latte art class focusing on how to steam oat milk well and pour with perfection. A founding sponsors, Planet Oat, will be supplying their milk for this to get local baristas more familiar with their products.
Importer Cupping: A room filled with importers and roasters sharing their coffee’s together! We look forward to seeing Yellow Rooster Coffee Imports, Artisan Coffee Imports, Cafe Imports, Ally Coffee and List & Biesler.
Latte Art Throwdown:: A classic and fun way to get folks together from our city and afar, all in a 32 person bracket.
Lectures & Discussion Panels: From industry leaders to folks who are just getting their foot in the door to specialty coffee, we all have something to learn. Details for lectures are in the tickets!
Barista Field Day: Dozer Coffee, in centrally located Ann Arbor, is opening up their massive warehouse and bar for an evening of field day games, conversation and fun! Cornhole, darts, ping pong, drinks and just enjoying time together with folks in our industry.
Signature Drink Competition: Creative coffee minds coming together to create a signature drink highlighting coffee they're excited to serve. Winner will win a trip to origin and be going to Costa Rica!
Networking: Meet folks from near and far — not just Detroit! Look forward to many connections with as many different specialty coffee folks as possible.
