Francis Kungu

Panelist, Kenya

Francis Kungu was born and raised in a small-scale rural community in Kenya. He is the founder of Jamii Coffee, a coffee importer specializing in Kenyan coffee. Francis realized that many specialty coffee roasters find Kenyan coffee trade complex, opaque and disconnected. So, he started his Soil to Cup sourcing approach. By pairing boots-on-the-ground educating farmers with increased transparency to produce high-quality coffee, Francis' approach guarantees living wage prices creating economic stability, broad social impact and promotes sustainable environmental practices that will protect Kenyan coffee farming families, communities and the diverse biodiversity for decades to come.
