Marcus Boni


Marcus has had the sincere pleasure of being a member of the Specialty Coffee Community for the past 17 years and is the Director of Marketing with Mahlkonig USA. Marcus has held leadership, marketing, and operational roles as Head of Coffee with Trade, Vice President of Retail at Intelligentsia Coffee, Director of Marketing and Product Development with Espresso Supply, and Director of Retail and Coffee Strategy with Kaldi’s Coffee. Marcus also spent four wonderful years as the Director of Community Development with the SCAA, leading Membership engagement and program development with US Coffee Championships, World Barista Championships, Barista Guild and Roasters Guild of America.

Relevant Experience

"As the US Chapter will instantly be the largest Chapter inside the SCA once formed, it will be important to hit the ground running alongside the rest of the elected volunteers of our group. I’m prepared and excited to volunteer my time outside of work and family to develop our US Chapter as a meaningful component to your SCA participation. My experience and extensive relationships, combined with my sincere desire to strengthen our US Coffee Community are the key reasons why I feel I am a qualified individual for this role. If elected, I would focus on the following:

Prioritize Membership Needs

Put our diverse membership base at the heart of our activity and prioritize decisions around their needs. Advocate for programs and content that speak to the core segments of our industry, while employing a wide variety of media to engage and educate. Be imaginative, welcoming and passionate while we elevate professionalism and champion a spirit of belonging. Be relentless in fighting for inclusivity.

Promote Strong Regional Support

I will support the elected and established volunteer groups in each region to strengthen communication, promote localized engagement and align to relatable purpose. We need strong and vibrant communities that thrive knowing there are shared values with both the Association and Chapter that validate continued support.

Be Inventive

Demonstrate, encourage and promote engagement in the US Coffee Community that leads to new and richer experiences and growth. Identify the opportunities and needs of our US membership that have emerged from the combining of associations, and advocate for alignment and support from SCA in our initiatives.

Peer-to-Peer Advocacy

As the successful launch of the US program cannot be of a single vision, I will engage a diverse group of individuals inside of our US membership, with a track record of success and commitment, to provide insight and thought leadership towards establishing this new chapter. I will work alongside SCA staff to employ best practices while refining tactics best suited for the US.
